Every player knows when the end is approaching. Some fight it, some take it on the nose, and may even take a back seat and do some bench help, like Kerry Collins, or Matt Hasselbeck, however, when you are one of the NFLs conceivably best QBs in NFL history, do you really want to take that path? I don't think so. You hold on, until no one wants you anymore as their starter, or you walk away knowing that your skills have diminished too much to potentially be as good as you once were in your career. It's always a depressing day when you are a future HOFér and you have to look in the mirror and come to the realization, that it's over. Your career is wrapping up. I feel that Peyton Manning is done. The Broncos are finding ways to keep on winning at this point, in spite of Peyton, not because of him. He is no longer the reason that teams are shaking, he has been nothing more than below mediocre, putting up just 9 TDs and 17 Ints with 4 out of 9 games with 0 TD passes. The defense has been excellent with allowing around just 18/game so far this season. Aqib Talib and Von Miller, in particular, have been Pro-Bowl caliber players in 2015. We will see what he is able to do, the rest of the season, if he even plays anymore. Kubiak has a new offense, and it could still be turned around. The defense can't win all of their games. This should absolutely be Peyton's last season, he hardly made it through last season, ending the year with 4 TDs, 6 picks and 240/ game over the last 5 games of the season, including the playoffs, that being after his scorching start. And quite honestly, this season he is looking far worse. Granted, Peyton, may have thus far in his fabled career only won one Super Bowl title, in 2006. But, I am a firm believer that those who slam on QBs without the jewelry don't understand many things, it's always a subjective argument, as to where you fall. I always feel winning a Super Bowl is a team thing. So with that being said, and with the Super Bowl argument, no one is going to say, in their right mind, that Trent Dilfer was a better QB than Dan Marino, or Phil Simms was better than Dan Fouts. I do think Manning should have won more Bowls than the one. Honestly, Manning had a great Oline, he was loaded up with 15 TD WR Marvin Harrison, 1200 YD WR Reggie Wayne, and excellent dual threat, 1500+ RB Edgerrin James for numerous dominant seasons. Who were both considered elite players at the time, and he couldn't get it done. So yes, is that something he has to move on from, of course. His playoff career has been something that has hounded him for his entire career, going only 11-14 with 7 games of 2+ picks, which they went 2-5 in those games, 9 games throwing for less than 240 yds, in which his teams went 2-7 in those. They all are way worse than his regular season averages. For him to put up all of the numbers he has and hasn't come away with nearly as many titles, is too bad. Manning had some amazing teams in the past with some great players. He should have won more hardware in his legendary career. The inevitable that is compared side by side with their careers with Peyton has always been Tom Brady. He was almost undrafted, we all know the story. And in time, he ended up breaking numerous of Mannings records with far less players in his holster, and still got his team to win 4 Super Bowls. The Broncos went out and picked up everyone they possibly could in free agency several years ago and then went out and got destroyed by Seattle, 43-8. Some could even say that was before Seattle was so revered as being one of the NFCs best. Everybody ages we are all human. Sometimes it's hard for some fans and people to understand that. Now after his getting benched and injury that will have him out for a bit, we are seeing the switching of the guards. He was one of the all time greats and now at this point in his career, he is nothing more than a good to decent QB. He is still better than a whole bunch, but still just a good QB.
